Explore what’s really important to you
We all need someone to talk to sometimes, and we can usually benefit from having someone who can ask us the tough questions in life that help us grow and thrive. In counselling, we look to create a safer space together so you can navigate personal values, relationships and the world around us. At Out of the Box we actively work to connect people’s individual experiences to the wider social context and power dynamics, which means taking an active stance to be anti-colonial, anti-racist, and anti-ableist.
Embracing your unique skills, gifts, and quirks, we work together towards the unique goals and needs that you bring. We believe that therapeutic approaches, tools and resources need to be tailored to each individual, instead of expecting people to fit themselves inside of a certain framework or process. We believe people have inherent knowledge as to what they need and we work to use the information our body gives us to help us make the decisions that are right for us. To do this, we draw from a variety of different approaches to inform our work including Somatic Experience, Internal Family Systems, Art therapy, Narrative Therapy, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness based therapies and/or outdoor therapy.
